One argument a lot of hospitals are making when parents ask about their cesarean rate, is that they have a high rate in line with the high risk pregnancies that they encounter.

The Joint Commission will be imposing new and more restrictive guideines for elective inductions and c/s and some hospitals have already started implementing the new requirements. It will include two very important things - 1) a restriction to allow elective c/s and inductions  only after 39 weeks gestation, and 2) reporting of failed inductions to a national database.
